something to think about...

We better wake up.

Think something like this isn't happening? Scary. It is happening as you
read this.....

We know Dick Lamm as the former Governor of Colorado. In that context his
thoughts are particularly poignant. Last week there was an immigration
overpopulation conference in Washington, DC, filled to capacity by many of
American's finest minds and leaders. A brilliant college professor by the
name of Victor Hansen Davis talked about his latest book, "Mexifornia,"
explaining how immigration - both legal and illegal - was destroying the
entire state of California. He said it would march across the country until
it destroyed all vestiges of The American Dream

Moments later, former Colorado Governor Richard D. Lamm stood up and gave a
stunning speech on how to destroy America. The audience sat spellbound as
he described eight methods for the destruction of the United States. He
said, "If you believe that America is too smug, too self-satisfied, too
rich, then let's destroy America. It is not that hard to do. No nation in
history has survived the ravages of time.
Arnold Toynbee observed that all great civilizations rise and fall and that
'An autopsy of history would show that all great nations commit suicide.' "

"Here is how they do it," Lamm said: "First, to destroy America, turn
America into a bilingual or multi-lingual and bicultural country."
History shows that no nation can survive the tension, conflict, and
antagonism of two or more competing languages and cultures. It is a
blessing for an individual to be bilingual; however, it is a curse for a
society to be bilingual. The historical scholar, Seymour Lipset, put it
this way: "The histories of bilingual and bi-cultural societies that do not
assimilate are histories of turmoil, tension, and tragedy." Canada, Belgium,
Malaysia, and Lebanon all face crises of national existence in which
minorities press for autonomy, if not independence. Pakistan and Cyprus
have divided. Nigeria suppressed an ethnic rebellion. France faces difficu
lties with Basques, Bretons, and Corsicans.".

Lamm went on: Second, to destroy America, "Invent 'multiculturalism' and
encourage immigrants to maintain their culture. I would make it an article
of belief that all cultures are equal. That there are no cultural
differences. I would make it an article of faith that the Black and
Hispanic dropout rates are due solely to prejudice and discrimination by the
majority. Every other explanation is out of bounds."

Third, "We could make the United States an 'Hispanic Quebec' without much
effort. The key is to celebrate diversity rather than unity. As Benjamin
Schwarz said in the Atlantic Monthly recently: "The apparent success of our
own multiethnic and multicultural experiment might have been achieved not by
tolerance but by hegemony. Without the dominance that once dictated
ethnocentricity and what it meant to be an American, we are left with only
tolerance and pluralism to hold us together." Lamm said, "I would encourage
all immigrants to keep their own language and culture. I would replace the
melting pot metaphor with the salad bowl metaphor. It is important to
ensure that we have various cultural subgroups living in America enforcing
their differences rather than as Americans, emphasizing their similarities."

"Fourth, I would make our fastest growing demographic group the least
educated. I would add a second underclass, unassimilated, undereducated,
and antagonistic to our population I would have this second underclass have
a 50% dropout rate from high school."

"My fifth point for destroying America would be to get big foundations and
business to give these efforts lots of money. I would invest in ethnic
identity, and I would establish the cult of 'Victimology.' I would get all
minorities to think that their lack of success was the fault of the majority
I would start a grievance industry blaming all minority failure on the
majority population."

"My sixth plan for America's downfall would include dual citizenship, and
promote divided loyalties. I would celebrate diversity over unity. I would
stress differences rather than similarities. Diverse people worldwide are
mostly engaged in hating each other - that is, when they are not killing
each other. A diverse, peaceful, or stable society is against most
historical precedent. People undervalue the unity it takes to keep a nation
together. Look at the ancient Greeks. The Greeks believed that they
belonged to the same race; they possessed a common language and literature;
and they worshipped the same gods. All Greece took part the Olympic games.
A common enemy, Persia, threatened their liberty. Yet all these bonds were
not strong enough to overcome two factors: local patriotism and geographical
conditions that nurtured political divisions. Greece fell. "E. Pluribus
Unum" -- From many , one. In that historical reality, if we put the
emphasis on the 'pluribus' instead of the 'Unum,' we will balkanize America
as surely as Kosovo."

"Next to last, I would place all subjects off limits; make it taboo to talk
about anything against the cult of 'diversity.' I would find a word similar
to 'heretic' in the 16th century - that stopped discussion and paralyzed
thinking. Words like 'racist' or 'xenophobe' halt discussion and debate.
Having made America a bilingual/bicultural country, having established
multi-culturism, having the large foundations fund the doctrine of
'Victimology,' I would next make it impossible to enforce our immigration
laws. I would develop a mantra: That because immigration has been good for
America, it must always be good. I would make every individual immigrant
symmetric and ignore the cumulative impact of millions of them."

In the last minute of his speech, Governor Lamm wiped his brow. Profound
silence followed. Finally he said,. "Lastly, I would censor Victor Hanson
Davis's book Mexifornia. His book is dangerous. It exposes the plan to
destroy America. If you feel America deserves to be destroyed, don't read
that book.".

There was no applause. A chilling fear quietly rose like an ominous cloud
above every attendee at the conference. Every American in that room knew
that everything Lamm enumerated was proceeding methodically, quietly,
darkly, yet pervasively across the United States today.
Discussion is being suppressed. Over 100 languages are ripping the
foundation of our educational system and national cohesiveness. Barbaric
cultures that practice female genital mutilation are growing as we celebrate
'diversity.' American jobs are vanishing into the Third World as
corporations create a Third World in America - take note of California and
other states - to date, ten million illegal aliens and growing fast. It is
reminiscent of George Orwell's book "1984." In that story, three slogans are
engraved in the Ministry of Truth building:
"War is peace," "Freedom is slavery," and "Ignorance is strength."

Governor Lamm walked back to his seat. It dawned on everyone at the
conference that our nation and the future of this great democracy is deeply
in trouble and worsening fast. If we don't get this immigration monster
stopped within three years, it will rage like a California wildfire and
destroy everything in its path, especially The American Dream.

Thank you very much for posting that. All of that was bang on the money, it's unfortunate but it's true. Illegal immigration, afermative action, and paranoia about trying to be "politically correct" is just getting worse. But who knows when people will wake up and do something to reverse this trend...

Wow. This topic did get my attention and although I normally wouldn’t feel like commenting on this sort of thing, I had to do it on this one. *smiles*

Although I guess he’s right that all of these factors would eventually “destroy” America, the fact is that diversity is what America is made of. When the Native Americans were already here, settlers destroyed many of their civilizations by converting them to Christianity, killing them off, and/or forcing them into reservations. But the settlers moved here because they wanted freedom to express themselves and live as they chose instead of by the rules of their king, or because they just wanted to own their own lands and find riches. Therefore, while taking advantage of or getting rid of the Native Americans, they were starting their own lives. Eventually, of course, there were many communities of different ethnic groups and intermingling among them. That’s also what happened with Mexico, but I believe there are still Native Americans living freely there. Anyway, then there were Africans being brought here. … So the diversity thing happened since hundreds of years ago. As far as freedom of expression, The Bill of Rights made that possible. And we have laws to make sure that doesn’t get out of hand. … My point is that although this guy makes it look like a horrible thing that the “American Dream” is being destroyed, what I feel like he is saying is that if all of the immigrants were gotten rid of and/or not allowed to practice their own beliefs/traditions (providing they’re not literally hurting anyone), then the “American” culture would be saved. Unfortunately, though, there’s not much anyone could do about this since the majority of Americans are made up of various ethnic groups (which include some who choose to stay together and others who choose to marry someone “outside” their background/culture.) I do agree though that it’s sad that nowadays you can find American businesses worldwide and outsourcing. This also means that we’d need to have commercials for our companies therefore encouraging people from other countries to buy and use our services, so the non-Americans would pick up on our style of language, or any other styles from America. To me, this would seem like we’re “destroying the American dream” because we’re spreading our businesses and unique characteristics everywhere else. So we are likely losing jobs here because of that. And I do also agree that people are more and more worried about political correctness nowadays also. So while I do agree that some of it is sad, I don’t think it’s so much because of the diversity we have here, since some people do still speak their own languages and practice their own religions, and I don’t think there’s anything majorly wrong because of that. We have TV and radio stations in Spanish and many written papers and documents are translated into Spanish. We also acknowledge other practices besides Christianity, since there are usually Jewish holidays on calendars, vegetarian products in grocery stores, and general respect by most people for other’s beliefs, among probably other things I can’t think of at the moment. But I think America will most be destroyed as a culture because of the fact that we seem to be trying to globalize ourselves, (not us specifically of course, but major businesses, and this is not really including the Internet because it would probably happen without the Internet Somehow anyway).

Thanks for posting this by the way, Texas Red. It was something to think about, even for me. *smiles*

This came from a news line. I don't agree with all the article stated, but thought it was very interesting. That's why I posted it. There are so many on here who are so bright and smart and I thought this was worth posting.

Of course, on one hand, the guy is not paying any attention to the fact that "illegal" immigrants provide 80 to 90% of all the worst paid service industry (cleaning/vegetable/fruit picking etc) jobs in the U.S. without them e.g. California would be temporarily paralyzed (see "a Day without a Mexican" boring movie but rasies very interesting points). While we keep demanding cheaper products, better deals, less effort and more for our money we fail to realize that in order to provide those solutions the makers of those products and services must seak the least expensive solution for manufacturing them which, inevitably, lead to outsourcing, I've seen it in various industries, over-all this is simply tye most efficient allocation of resources at work and we never complain when our movie tickets go down, even if that means that the movies we see are shot in Mexico or New Wealand to save on bills, thus not providing many local jobs.
I"m not disagreeing with those views per say, I'm just saying the worl id changing, you can't have your cake and eat it too. I fully agree with the language theory though, if someone moves here without even bothering to learn English that person is clearly not interested in the wellfare and future of the nation and it will eventually lead to increasing issues, a language is, more than anything, what defines a nation and once the national languages divide it may fuel tension. NOte, however that Switzerland, for instance, has 4 official langauges and, even if they have their own internal problems, mostly with east European immigrants, over-all the nation is the symbol of stability and wellfare so this argument is not necessarily and clearly valid in all cases. Canada, also, has been complemented time again for a much higher standard of living than the U.S. and, so far, the bilingual and independence struggle within the country has not boiled over into a significant set back. So, whereas this guy has some points, he's clearly ignoring a lot of benefits and is being ultra conservative, forgetting about a lot of the advnatages of modern society.
cheers

How do I know this speaker does not have some kind of ultraconservative, or even white nationalist/supremacist agenda? Plus, aren't the problems of the borders and immigration just too big to fix totally? Is he saying America is doomned? OK, if so, thanks for adding to the general feeling of fear and doom in the country, Mr. Lamb. thanks for nothing.
